Who we are

Welcome to Do The Right Thing-Direct - a family business dedicated to bringing a whole range of Organic, FairTrade and Eco-friendly gifts and provisions directly to your community.

I currently can get hold of around 5000 products, including fruit and veg, foods,
household, toys, clothing, gifts, stationery and cleaning products.

Why I started the business

Do The Right Thing - Direct was born in 2005 after years of frustration trying to consistently access earth-friendly products. With family members on restricted diets, and trying to promote Fair Trade products to a local Youth Group,  I found it extremely difficult to purchase exactly what I wanted without being met with minimum order charges, or additional postage and packing charges. Alternatively I found myself trailing around different stores being only able to buy limited things from each shop. This not only wasted time and money, but in terms of my carbon footprint it was hardly eco-friendly.

I knew I couldn't be the only person in this situation so set out to provide a community store where all these products could be accessed through just one outlet, ensuring:-

  • accessibility
  • an exciting range of products,
  • consistency,
  • fair price
  • no additional costs
  • and no minimum order charge.

My passionate commitment to all things ethical

I am a firm believer that it is the small, everyday things that we all do, that can make a big change to our world. Hence, here at Do The Right Thing - Direct I have clear ethical guidelines that I work to in store.

I only deal with suppliers who have high ethical standards.

I aim to use suppliers who are as local as possible.

All our bags are recycled and many customers bring their own bags or recycle their bags through the shop.

Advertising is kept to a minimum to reduce costs and therefore passing savings onto the customer. If you like what you see, please spread the word!

My newsletter goes out electronically rather than on paper (please contact me using contact page if you would like to be added to this).

I currently accept payment for goods in cash and cheque only - this enables banking costs to be kept to a minimum ensuring the savings are always passed on to you, the customer.
